Alcatraz - San Francisco, CA

Across the centuries, from the Spanish explorers who in 1775 named it after its first residents, the seabirds, to the 1895 incarceration of 19 Hopi Indians for the crime of not surrendering their language and beliefs; to the 1969 occupation by the "Indians of all Tribes," which indirectly resulted in the return of Blue Lake and 48,000 acres of land to the Taos Indians, Alcatraz stands as a testament to all of its' residents.
